Sounds like you have a EQDir cable. (

This goes between the PC (usb) and the controller port on the mount.
You need to consider how to communicate from the PC to mount.
I have the HEQ5 and use Cartes du Ciel planetarium program to control the mount - GOTO, syncs etc etc
You need to install ASCOM V6.5 then install the EQMod software (real name is EQascom)

This is the cable used to connect the handcontroller to the PC - you'll also need a Serial>USB adaptor.
Normally used for updating the Synscan software and can be used to control the mount through the utility/ PC direct mode.
