FWIW he said that parts were usually the problem and probably cost more than what the camera was worth, so I didn't go ahead with it. So as bojan suggests above, perhaps if you find a similar camera on ebay and take both to them for parts?

I think thats what I am going to have to do. I really hope I can get it working as I only just discovered once I remove the lens I can connect it to my Dob.
Which I thought was pretty good considering the camera is 48 yrs old. :-)
