Looks to me Tony that in the "expensive" one you're paying for image stabilization. Holding a 200mm lens not on a tripod and not getting the shakes in your image is not easy. Both beautiful lenses though. Mind you their cost are on a par with say an 85mm f/1.2 lense at around $2800
