It could be good. Though I have yet to experience a Nikon or other lens F1.4 or faster that did not have a lot of chromatic aberration. By the time you stop it down to get rid of it you are back to F2.8 anyway.

The 85 1.8G was like that. So it would have to be to a higher standard than that. The Samyang 24 1.4 would work at F2.

I have a Nikon 105 2.8 AIS which cost hardly anything and is a beautiful lens. They are plentiful 2nd hand.

The only F1.4 lens I am aware of that can handle wide open for astro is the Sigma Art 35 1.4.

Not to be a downer but I would definitely check this point out if that is the only reason you want that lens.

105mm will require tracking as well and would not be useful untracked.
