I’m considering the Canon EOS 40D with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM and Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM to give me 24 to 200mm coverage within the L and IS range. Ideally, I would like to start at the bottom end with 17mm but the 17-40mm leaves a gap between 40mm and the 70-200mm.
For the Canon EOS 40D and Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM I’ve found a local web (Dirt Cheap) price of $3238.74 ($2738.74 with cash back) and a local shop price of $3642.00 ($3142) .
I really cannot consider the F2.8 variants! I’ll just wait and see – the $500 cash back runs to the end of the year. You never know what Nikon will do when the D300 becomes available!
