That’s nothing new…new material perhaps, but
Tycho Brahe, the famous Danish astronomer, lost part of his nose in a duel with a fellow Danish nobleman in 1566 and for the rest of his life, he was said to have worn a replacement made of silver and gold, using a paste to keep it attached.
Some historians have speculated that he wore a number of different prosthetics for different occasions, noting that a copper nose would have been more comfortable and less heavy than a precious metal one.
So, Allan’s insulation taped nose is just a modern, lightweight version!
