Skywatcher 8" Dob Sydney region pickup - reduced $380 ono

A much-loved scope. Wonderful views of the Carina Nebula and Tarantula Nebula. In this scope 47 Tuc is a work of art.

This size and performance is an excellent all-rounder; a sweet balance between weight and size, view, and price. The weight is 20 kg for both scope and base together, or you can cart them outside in two easy trips of just 10 kg each.

Mirrors are clean and collimation is very forgiving at f6.

I've added a setting circle in the base. I live under suburban skies, and the Magellanic Clouds are invisible to the naked eye. Star-hopping is a real challenge when you can't see the key stars. But light pollution is a challenge, not an impenetrable barrier! So instead, I use Stellarium on my phone which gives the Alt/Az coordinates of what I want to look at. I use the setting circle and a $20 digital level and land within 1 degree of the object. Satisfying and easy.

Selling because I set up a 12" Dob permanently in my back yard and haven't carted this outside much. If I hadn't set up the permanent scope, I would absolutely still be sweeping the skies every clear night with this one.

Asking $400 $380 ono. Pickup from Blaxland NSW, lower Blue Mountains - 15 minutes west of Penrith
