Astrophotography is hard

Had a great imaging session last night. Three+ glorious hours of cloud free sky. I had hoped to get a nice red layer for the Helix. I stacked the subs, but something didn't look right with a stretch. The stars looked bloated and the nebula didn't stand out. I go down to the obs today and... had the filter wheel set for straight through - no filter. Everything was flooded with unwanted IR.

If it's not one thing it's another. One session I'll have a night where everything goes right. But not this year.
