Depends on the scope. In my old 12" f5 I used a 24 Pan that only gave me 62.5x more than any other EP. In my 20" f5 the 17 Ethos at 150x is the go. Bigger aperture allows more power. I regularly use a 10mm giving 254x and even push it to 317x with the 8mm Ethos, but that needs pretty good conditions. In the 12", those sort of powers were nearly unthinkable, 150x was only very rarely possible.
That said the short while I had the 17 Ethos while I still had the 12", it was a really nice combo at 88x.
