I have seen other take photos where they take multiple exposures of differing length.
Then use PS or GIMP to mask combined images to get detailed stars and also details on the moon. It is a very complex process that I have not mastered it as yet. When it works the effect is fabulous.
I may try it tonight if I can. There maybe a case of combine differing ISO or F stops as well. (complex)
