They do deep sky in a very basic form. A DSLR does a better job for DSO's.

As you noted RGB mono imaging seems to have better colours after processing compared to OSC but that means more imaging time and extra processing and filling up hard drives with avis' even faster.
Having looked at the specs for the SV305, it does not seem to be capable of as fast a frame rate and less Gain settings control. Possibly a reason for the cheaper price compared to the ASI290.
What ROI were you using and what frame rate did that achieve.

Jeff, the SV305 maxes out at 130fps. I was using an ROI of 640x480 I think from memory. Jupiter was 42ms, gain 8. Saturn I think was full gain with similar exposure.
