Advice sought - piggybacking on a Celestron 130SLT

Hi all,

I have a Canon 350D and a Celestron 130SLT alt az setup. I thought about taking widefields with this as it's a lot to set up my ED80 and EQ5 just for a bit of tracking.

Two questions: what's the longest exposure I'd get away with before I experienced trailling?

And secondly, I wasn't sure if a scope ring that I could attach the camera to would add too much weight for the mount to handle. Anyone got any suggestions as to how to mount the camera on the scope without a ring? I did think of using a camera eyepiece mount but it won't fit the Canon and I thought the weight would be too far offset from the mount's centre.

thanks for any help you can give guys.

cheers

niko
