That's for CCD sensors that suffer from RBI. The camera has an IR source and floods the sensor and equally messes up all the pixels
The BasicCCDParameters script assumes linear increase in dark current which is usually a reasonable assumption for CCD sensors but CMOS sensors do a lot of weird stuff.
