I've had a "cheap" Chinese gen for about 8 years. Still going well. Though this my 2nd, the first lasted just over 12 months.
The key to longevity is oil changes. Needs to be done at least every 40 hrs of use. The first one seized at about 70 hrs after not changing oil.
