Phase One Systems or any of those Medium Format cameras are really specialised animals that only work in ISO50 to 400 and then fall off badly after that. So for astrophotography they are not feasible. For studio controlled conditions yeah they are unmatched. So in that regards the DXo score I think is quite realisitic. If you dropped $40K on a medium format camera and then hooked it up on your tripod and tried to do a nightscape or a night time lapse I think you might be horrifed by the results.

DXO do rate for various aspects like high ISO performance, dynamic range etc etc. So its a good measure for sensors.

Having said that it is true the rest of the camera wrapped around the sensor does make the complete experience as foveon sensored cameras prove. Also I see 5D3 owners seem to have a high satisfaction rate compared to a relatively poor DXO mark. So your point is taken in that regard.
