Protective Lens filters

Hello all,

I've started using my Canon lenses for some astrophotography, and was wondering if the quality of the standard UV/Skyglow/Haze filters in front of the lens could cause adverse effects.

I'm asking really as I have just got a Ha filter which I may try to fit infront of the lens with a UV filter on top for protection from the elements.

I dont do any serious daytime photography, I just bought the cheapest filters to protect the lenses so I'm not sure what effect they really have, or might have during astrophotography.

Thanks

Joe
