I was out between 2.00 and 3.00 am this morning under clear skies. I saw 6 faint, fast moving, short lived meteors out of Gemini. There may have been more but I don't think I had the fine attention and patience to pick out these faint, fast flashes.
There was one brighter (perhaps magnitude 1 - 2) slower moving meteor out of Gemini that travelled east to just past Leo.
I saw one large, bright, slow moving meteor that was spectacular. It appeared in Monoceros to the north of Gemini and travelled slowly south with a long trail. When overhead it split into a number of closely spaced fragments with multiple fiery trails. It burnt out near the Magellanic Clouds. It was magnitude -1 or brighter; difficult to tell when one only has moments to enjoy the spectacle.
