I usualy have one image in the camera for CWB from a gray card (12% i think) taken in sunlight, I find it handles most common situations. Originaly I was going to have a few images for different situations stored on the card but never got round to it.
If like me you forget (or cant be bothered) to activate the CWB you can get pretty good result from PS using Image adjustments / Auto Color - see below
