My problem with commercial programs is they exist because MS doesn't provide (any more.. they refuse or don't know how or there is some sort of collusion...) utilities to fix it's own issues and problems, as demonstrated (again) with what happened to my HD's.
In the past once I couldn't access 1TB drive after physical (?) damage (it fell on the floor while working with XP, but linux had no problems (I discovered that by accident when in desperation attached that drive to TV set (linux) and discovered there was no issues, so I managed to salvage everything).
Anyway, my solution to this hassle will be copying everything to 3TB drive and then re-formatting the old one and use it as archive.
Call me grumpy old man, call me what you want.. but no clouds.... and definitely no commercial utilities for me.
