Elkens Lightbox LCD Panel

Ok I started out to make a traditional lightbox, but when I got to the part of light source, i was looking for diffusing material from lcd panels, then it struck why not use a panel as the light source. What was going to take a couple of hours blew out to 6hrs.

The pics explain all, well mostly.

first I made the box out of old signage plastic sheet.

Then I spent ages getting to panel to illuminate +12volts was easy but figuring out how to force then light on well, I tried several inverters till I found one that only required one of the pins to be switched to +12v

The panel was a bit long so it just sticks out of the top, masked with black card.

the diffuser is made with sticks of balsa wood, super glued and 'T' pinned together.

The diffuser sheets which were out a LCD panel, two of them were pinned either side of the balsa frame using hobby model railway spikes, (past hobby)

The conduit is a support when attached to scope, it is quite light, but extra support wont go astray.

I have done some testing with my 60d, results are looking good.

This was dimension-ed for my RC-8 but can be used on my other scopes too. Hole diameter is 250 mm.
