Sounds like you are trying to do planetary imaging with a camera lens.
Sadly your focal length is out by an order of magnitude. Try a FL of 5000mm not 500mm.
That said I had extensively tested the EOS 500mm F4 prior to heading to
Last years USA eclipse. My Taka FSQ was sharper and had better contrast, less colour with almost the same FL.
