Wavytone that is a pretty extreme statement. This is a plossl. It does not have a rubber eyecup and never came with one. It has not been hacked by a hacksaw. The eyepiece was bought from new and has always looked like this. I don't like dispersions being cast about how I look after my gear thanks.
The second photo and third photo by way are the opposite ends of the eyepiece.
