Vixen 102M achro on Great Polaris mount - Melb $950

Late 1990's Vixen 102M achromatic telescope on Vixen GP mount, all in fantastic original condition!

OTA specs 102mm FL1000mm F9.8
Very lightweight at 4.5 kg.

Internally baffled OTA. Includes all original everything - tube rings, dovetail plate, quick release 6x30 finder (with very nice intact & sharp crosshairs), removeable dew shield & 1.25inch diagonal.

Comes mounted on a complete and very original GP mount system that is in awesome showroom condition!
- Mount head with manual geared controls for both right ascension and declination axes.
- Dovetail plate hardware to attach a telescope.
- AL-150 lightweight aluminum tripod 93 to 150 cm extension, model 3802.
- 3.7 kg counterweight.
- Illuminated 6x20 mm pole finder Model 3593. 8 degree actual field of view, alignment to within 3 minute accuracy possible.
- Mount setting circles model 3593. Right ascension setting circle 10 minute increments. Declination setting circle 2 degree increments.
- Accessory tray

The single speed focuser on the telescope is buttery smooth with no backlash. The GP mount is equally smooth, such a joy to use. I can now see why this design has been attempted to be so extensively cloned!

Selling ONLY because I loved the views in this 'scope so much that I've since upgraded to a higher spec even longer (F11) 100mm OTA. I just can't justify having two planetary/lunar/double star splitting long refractors in the house. A reluctant sale considering the absolute fine condition that this telescope is in. The mount is ONLY included in the sale because I'm currently 100% visual and require GOTO for my observations.

Priced to completely reflect the overall great condition of this now vintage and hard-to-find setup.

Inspection welcome & encouraged! Item is located in Parkdale -bayside Melbourne. Pickup only.

If this doesn't sell, I'd be more than happy to keep it as an awesome astronomers' loungeroom centre-piece. It's such a beautiful 'scope and mount to just look at.

Regards, Dean
