I think that U did well to observe NGC 2022. I have always written it off as too faint to try.
NCE 2169 sounds intriguing. I do not ever remember observing that.
Mind U, Summer in the tropics is not a great time for observing. Its often a case of: If the clouds don't get me, the mosquitoes will.
Anyway, thanks for your write up, as these inspire me much more than pictures.
