Eyepiece set

My eyepiece set has been nicely settled for some time now. All have been sourced second hand, including quite a few from here on IIS.

General viewing:
Set of Vixen LVW’s giving a good spread of magnifications and exit pupils.
Why to I favour the LVW’s?
  • They provide a quality, value for money viewing experience consistently across all focal lengths.
  • I find the the 65 deg AFOV very comfortable and views are consistently sharp right to the edge.
  • All have 20mm eye relief making them very comfortable for extended viewing.
  • They are all par focal making it easier to swap between eyepieces
  • They are all approximately the same weight simplifying telescope balancing when changing between eyepieces.
  • They perform well across all telescope types, although my observing is primarily with a 140mm refractor where they excel IMHO!!
Specialty eyepieces:
  • Baader Classic 10mm Ortho with permanent occulting bar. The Teleview 2X barlow delivers higher magnifications when needed.
  • ProStar 22mm 70 Deg APFOV illuminated reticule eyepiece
  • Orion 12mm illuminated reticule.
