I had the same issue with FPS
On my old XP window laptop, I was getting 5-10fps - dual core
On a I5 laptop (quad core) I can now get upto 30FPS, but I reduced the resolution to something like 400x400
I think FPS depend on the CPU and resolution used, it's not the camera
