Sagittarius/Scorpius Milkyway widefield in Infrared

Good run of clear in Sydney for the next few nights so time to mosaic. I have the 100mm lens with the QHY9 setup on the pier until this week-end. Here's 13x10min centered on the lagoon with an Astronomik IR 700nm filter. Somehow unrecognisable so I have attached a similar Ha shot of the area so you can get some pointers.

Still have to shoot calibration subs tonight. It's taking shape. Looks a lot different from Ha or visible. Most of the DSOs, Lagoon, Trifid, etc... just disappear. The dark dust is still there but a lot more stars in it. The field is centered on M8. You can guess it's there with the bright cluster and also M20 to the left. All is left of the nebulae under M8 is the dark dusty outline of the foot print.

There's a bigger one here. [1.9MB].

Seeing wasn't too bad last night but it's forecast to deteriorate tonight. Hopefully it won't affect this too much given the image scale.

PS: Added 3 more panels last night. Figured out I only need to do 1h on each to kill the noise so I went around much faster this time.

If you're on the NBN click here [13MB]
Otherwise HD is here.

Platesolve is here.
