FINALLY, here on the Sunshine Coast, I am rewarded with a simply perfect night. Seeing is 9/10, maybe better (PHD has not beeped ONCE all night, with refresh at 0.2s with 10 min subs).

Done M42 (AGAIN!) with some INCREDIBLE results (post it soon), doing Horsehead now, with simply gob-smacking results too (from my driveway in suburbia). Once Horsehead is done, moving over to Eta Carinae again, or M45 - not decided yet.

Equipment tonight is my Vixen FL102S, with NO focal reducer, with Canon 5D MkII (unmodified, uncooled). The scope is yet again proving how good fluorite is... the clarity, fidelity and sharpness of the images is manificent, and the magnitudes it is showing.

:) It is a beautiful night isnt it. Seeing is a bit iffy over my way. Sirius is flickering.
Once that Moon set, the sky has been so very very dark. :)

Cloud started from south-east about 1 am darn it. Ruined my Eta Carinae sequence - only got off 2 x 10 min subs. Look GREAT though!

Sitting here doing dark frames... so darned tedious :) Just found out I did Horsehead at ISO1500, when I meant to do it at 500! D'oh!

Now just the bias frames left... thankfully they are so quick :)

Yup. Don't need to excite the neighbours at 2am.
