Hi, I just wonder how/where to buy a camera from Point Grey? I can't find an Australian dealer and PG website does not ship outside North America.
Thanks
David

Contact them: http://www.ptgrey.com/sales/contact.asp and ask if they have a reseller in Aus. or anywhere else.

From memory they don't have a reseller here & you have to buy direct. That might have changed by now though..

Yes, you still have to go direct.
Which camera are you buying?

They will certainly deal direct with you, but be sure to ask what the shipping costs, and make sure you are sitting down when you do.
I did, hell it hurt, I wasn't sitting down at the time.

Bought mine direct as well. They were very efficient.

As for shipping costs, they only use Fedex and it will run you about $200,
plus whatever GST is applicable.

(As my camera was over $A1000, this was not bad as they do the formal customs entry for you)

Yes, it may pay to combine an order with someone else and save some shipping $$

Also, there are some brand new Chameleons on ebay at the moment if that is what you are after.

I am looking for Flea 3 Color, not that I know much about their products, just noted some nice Sun/moon/planets pictures posted in IIS using Point Grey cameras. As a beginner I'll go for color chip to simplify things. Strange though the camera does not come with power cable and adapters..every bit costs extra.

I suspect US sellers make profitable margins out of courier cost. Software Bisque quoted $2600 for PMX and accessories, told them I would think about it, they came back with $1500 within 24 hours. After adding all the costs..I should have bought it from Aus dealers.

Thanks Asimov, actually looking at your and others planetary pictures really inspiring. Really hope one day I too can come up with an image of Jupiter.

Hi David, dealing direct with them is easy, just contact them via email and that will sort things.

You will need a developers kit (usually they will not let you buy your first product from them without this kit) and that costs around $100 or so US dollars.

Customs duty was sorted easily and as Pete said all via Fedex.

Thank you Paul, I'll get direct from Point Grey. Also most their cameras require Windows Vista or higher system, wonder if my Windows Xp will work?
