A lot of people my age were brought up in the Brosnan era and would say he is their favourite.

However me being a huge fan of Bond my favourite is Connery. My rankings are as follows:

1) Connery
2) Moore
3) Brosnan
4) Dalton
5) Craig
6) Lazenby

Vote for your favourite above and leave a post of your rankings!

1-Daniel Craig
2-Sean Connery

Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan never looked physically big enough nor muscular enough for the part:)

There are a few Moore fans here......interesting.
Is this just like trying to determine who is the best heavy weight boxer of all time?......we will never know.........my vote is for Connery!

For sure Roger Moore. He was always a smart a$$. Worst would be Timothy Dalton. It was like casting Tobey Maguire in spiderman. What were they thinking. :P

As far as actual physique goes none of those actors were capable of convincing me that they could pull off the physical stunts etc.

If I have to vote its Mr Connery.

How about Peter Sellers? After all JB is a comedy.
Any others not in the poll?

Of course!

Roger Moore was the Saint and always will be. He filled in as Bond when the occasion rose.

forget Bond,-who's your favourite Bond girl!

For me it would have to be Solitare-from 'Live and let die'.A Tarot card packing
wicca chick that's gorgeous, they always spark up the best.

As to which actor was the best Bond, its always difficult,as has been mention
depends on generation of person, for me-Rodger Moore.

One and only - Sean Connery, of course.

Me - last week in Phang Nga Bay Thailand. Just my luck to get the wife as a Bond Girl. The Ray Gun is missing out of the top of the rock but you should be able to pick the movie.

I normally prefer Connery as actor, but Moore was the more quintessential Bond in my opinion. The rest were just also-rans, or worse.

If you moustache the queshtion, then you won't be shaving it for later then......can you guess which one I voted for?

Although, some of the Connery bond "love" scenes were one step removed from statutory rape....IMO.....they go like this......

Bond grabs the girl and pulls her to him

Bond Girl: "No Mr Bond!"
Bond: "Yesh"
She wrestles from his grip and he grabs her roughly......

Bond Girl: "NOOO Mr Bond"
Bond: "Yesh, you know you want to"

She slaps him!

Bond Girl: "I said NO! Mr Bond"

Bond grabs her, pulls her in tight and kisses her while she flails about until she ultimately gives in to the passion.......and so on.

Apparently it WAS Yes all along????????

Hmmmmm. the 1960s, a different time eh?

I spose its all about the story, but it's quite disturbing when you think about it.....he's not THAT good looking...?

What's that Q? :P

Cheers

Connery is the best Bond, but Daniel Craig was great in the reboot.

OHMSS is the best movie, and I thought Lazenby was okay in it. I ignore the Moore years ;)

From Russia With Love the best book, but I adore the attempted assassination of M scene in Man With The Golden Gun.

Barry Nelson is regarded as the first actor to play James Bond, if we are being completist :)

Who voted for Lazenby? LOL

Lazenby wasn't too bad, and he had one of the best lines and one of the first breaking the 4th wall lines in movies when he gets rejected on the beach by a girl

"That wouldn't have happened to the other guy"

Hilarious

Me! Someone had to :)

I thought he was pretty good - seemed to encapsulate the Bond of the books quite well. Early Bond Connery is the best though ... first two or three.

Just had a great idea
Why not put Billy Connoly in the role of James Bond?
I voted Pierce Brosnan

Hey Doug, (goober):)

You openly admit that Connery is the best. Yet you voted for Lazenby.???

That's OK You felt for the underdog.:)

I think all of them are great actors. I do however see them fall short of the real tough guy. They have no muscle. Not any of them. 6 months in the gym and they would look the part. They fall short.

Cheers

I think he's had more than 6 months at the gym. How big do they need to be

I grew up with the Roger Moore era, yet he's near the bottom of my list (he can't act for poop if you ask me, which you didn't :P)

1. Daniel Craig - personifies the modern "spy" - actually, more realistic for any era than all of them
2. Sean Connery - good acting, well done always

The list thus endeth :) Brosnan I can only remember as the other guy in Mrs. Doubtfire, Dalton was acceptable (if only just), Lazenby was pretty mediocre at best (can't always push an Aussie over the line)

TrevorW

Craig personifies the modern 007, licensed to kill and that is what he'll do without compunction man or woman IMO.

He shows the cuts and bruises which you'd expect from someone that has as many bingles as Bond does.

Moore was rubbish

Brosnan lacked the tough guy image

Connery was suave but it was more about the gadgets and girls in his day

Dalton could have been successful

Lazenby another Brosnan

Steffen

Girls, gadgets, humour and exotic locations - that was the Bond formula. Bond is dead now, the newer episodes are just forgettable, run-of-the-mill action. Might as well watch Mission Impossible or Jason Bourne.

Cheers
Steffen.

+1 Carlos
Marty I dont think "spies" need to be tough guys.......... I dont think Arnie would be able to do the job ( except maybe in True Lies---also great funny movie), cuase it would attract to much attention.........

Funny thing though about attracting too much attention....how many times did JB walk into a hotel and the reception clerk would greet him with " ah Mr Bond, welcome.....your room is 123 ze exzecutive zuite"??????

Fleming's Bond was little more than a thug, and so Craig is probably the most Bond-like in that respect. He plays him as being a hard man who is a long way from perfect, which is probably the most accurate depiction of them all, so far.

Still, a lot of people I know reckon Connery was best.
