Now Ihave a complete system I'm very happy with. :)

Olympus OM-D on Takahashi FS-60C via Tak wide mount adapter, standard extension tube and camera angle adjuster. Tak finder bracket modified to solar finder. 5mm foam core sun shield. Total weight - 2.1kg.

Vixen Polarie on tripod via Losmandy 2-D camera bracket.

Baader AstroSolar film cell made from Feather Touch focuser adapter with optional 72mm orange filter.

Works a treat. Cairns, here we come.

Looks great, Chris. I'm hoping to do something similar but I haven't started yet.

Cheers,
Rick.

Brilliant setup. Very clever and well though out. Is that regular Baader solar film and you have attached an
orange filter. Where did you get the orange filter from?

Greg.

Thanks Mike, Rick and Eric :)

Greg - thanks, and yes, Baader AstroSolar ND5. Standard colour is white, which is OK, but I prefer orange. I had a 72mm Nikon O56 Orange filter from my family's film days. In tandem with the solar film it delivers a warm orange image. The way I've constructed it, it's easily removed and re-fitted. Usefully, the 72mm cap fits to protect the lot. :)

Thanks David. I believe we'll be neighbours up there. I'm keen to have a look at your setup too. See you and Al Wednesday week! Keep an eye out for four idiots and a camper trailer. :hi:

Thanks Chris.

I'll check that out. I took some sample shots myself on the weekend as a test. I used a variable ND filter. It worked well with a 24-70 and also 185mm.

I also checked using an infrared filter and that gives an orange/yellow sun.

Greg.
