How can I tell if a webcam will fit the adapter? Do all webcams with screw out focusers fit?

Hi Tony

Could I ask what web cam (type/model) you are talking about exactly?

Oh, well that's my question... I haven't bought a webcam yet... How will I know a camera I want to buy will fit it?

Is there a list of webcams that will fit those adapters?

Hello Again

I would first get a well known and used web cam with lots of support and information out there (i.e. Philips SPC900) on the web etc.

You can buy the adaptors for these off ebay or most astro supplies websites. Check out these adaptors at Ebay ($18 - 25 mark) http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?LH_PrefLoc=2&_nkw=Philips+webcam+Adaptor+&_cqr=true&_nkwusc=Philips+Web+Cam+Adaptor&_rdc=1. Adaptors are generally made for specific web cams!

These cameras are a little expensive at the moment as they have a great reputation, have CCD (not CMOS) chips and have been discontinued. But they are still out there on ebay and in some astro shops (pre modified with adaptor on special) see link http://www.australiatelescopes.com.au/philips-spc900-long-exposure-modified-webcam-astrophotography-ccd-camera.html.

Hope this helps.
