Hi guys,
My father is looking to team up a Skywatcher goto dob with a camera of some type for ~real time viewing on a monitor.

I have no experience in this area but from my reading on the matter from a few years ago I straightaway thought of the G-star cameras, however I'm wondering what else is on the market for similar $$, ie $400-$500.

Colour would be great, but really overall image quality is most important I guess.
Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated!

I must admit to being partial to the G Star Ex. I spent many an hour observing on the big screen with mine.
Others have used a colour Samsung Security camera, not sure what model though. Ken (Ballarat Dragons) would be able to help you with that. :)

:) You just missed out on a G Star Colour in the classifieds. :)

Yes, I saw that!
Have you ever compared yours to a colour model?

The mono version is more sensitive than the colour. :)
But it's nice to be able to see colour in the brighter nebs.

You can also modify cheaper samsung cameras (around $150) and get quite reasonable results.

$150? I thought the Samsung that was used was a fair bit more than that?
