:) a few weeks ago I was asked to be one of the guest speakers at the 40th Anniversary BAA Horncastle Astronomy Weekend, in the UK.
Who would have thought it? I was humbled and flattered by the offer.
Paul Money put together a slide show of my images to work off and I just had to give a running commentary. :)
I must say my nerves were jumping all today. This evening we connected via video link up and it was an amazing and surreal experience :). I could see the audience I was talking to, as well as myself.
Those who know me, know I'm a shy and retiring type, but once I started talking about my passion for astronomy, well, everything turned out well. :)
It was privilege to be a part of their 40th Anniversary celebrations.

I threw a couple of plugs for Ice In Space along the way as well.

Well done, babez.

It isn't easy, but, as you mentioned, once you get the ball rolling, you forget about who's out there and just enjoy the moment. :)

Congratulations, as regular public speaker I know the buzz you felt. It never dies no matter how much I do it. :D

It is even better live in front of a few hundred people.

I have been told that if you dont get a buzz, nerves, jitters, then you are doing it wrong.

When Trevor is doing a presentation in Sydney I like to go along and listen, even if I have no idea what he is talking about. He is very good at it but it must be a lot harder when your old man is sitting in the front row of the audience

Barry

PS My dearest (now over 90) used to be a radio announcer (they call them DJ's now). She is quite used to talking in front of a microphone where no one talks back. When she talks I have great difficulty getting a word in edgewise.

Great stuff JJJ, congratulations.

I've done a lot of Training & Assessment but only face to face.

It must be interesting to do a video conference, was there any delay with the sound etc?

There was a bit of a delay, but old motor mouth here just kept on talking, and then wondered why people were laughing at a joke said 10 seconds ago. LOL

Great work-well done!

Its a nice feeling to be asked to give a talk like that,I got asked to do a few 'in the big end of town' corporate functions',after I landed a plane on the moon, the food and views were the best part.Still get invites to speak here and there.
