That's an outstanding job to a fantastic photo. I can see why it became an instant classic.

Her other work is amazing, too. I saw one where she converted Alexander Graham Bell into colour and it's remarkable.

I wasn't expecting it to be so good, but it really is.

I believe the last line to be true: A more epic gathering cannot be imagined.

Very cool. Most people in this shot gave their name to constants or units :)

Totally brilliant work - and what a role call!

Thanks for posting that. Newton said that if he could see further it was from standing on the shoulders of giants. These guys would have said that Newton was their giant on whose shoulders they stood on as our scientists today look back on this group as the giants on whose shoulders they have stood on...

Attached are some details of those appearing in the photo, I could not find reference to Hersen and I'm not sure re the reference for Guye

Over half the people in the photo were awarded a Noble prize

What an assembly of minds!

Yes, a momentous gathering that :eyepop:

Only one woman, shame, imagine how far we would be now if the other half of our species had been as free and encouraged to study and do research back then

Hmmm?....on close inspection, Eistein and Langevin look like they are scratching their bums, de Broglie looks particularly wavering and to me Heisenberg looks decidedly uncertain about where he actually is....?

:P

Schrodinger's looking for his cat, and Pauli's wondering what Schrodinger is looking at

Astro_Bot

... and it looks like Schrodinger is in two minds while Pauli feels excluded. Is it just me or does it look like Bragg is the kind of guy to grate on you? :P

He was the first one I recognised! Auguste Piccard has been a hero of mine since I was young. A pioneering high altitude balloonist, AND a pioneering deep ocean explorer.

Some remarkable people in that photo.

Cheers,
Jason.

Good colourising job on that one. I've got a print-out of the b&w version on my cubicle wall, I'll put this next to it.

Cheers
Steffen.

I could not find reference to Hersen, any help here guys, as I would like to finalise the biography for the image

It's got nothing to do with appearance. It's about existence. I was attempting to channel Schrodinger. Sorry for being obscure. :screwy:
