When not in use, store your scope with dust caps ON.
Rogerio Marcon shared these pictures of a 10"Dob that wasn't stored correctly.

I bet the views were sweet though.

That's a stinging ripost from such a drone. Can't wait to see your "wiggle" dance at Astrofest telling all of us where your stash of equipment resides.
Does that make you "queen" bee?

Behive yourselves!!!!

Can you imagine how sick in the stomach you'd feel when you first prised the aperture dust cap off and saw THAT.
I'll go back to his page and translate it so we can know the full story. :)

Beekeeping and Astronomy-I invasion of bees in the telescope tube dobsoniano of 10 "that was in Caldas-MG. the mirror polishing material, beeswax base attracted the swarm into the tube.(1999)

I'm not sure if Rogerio is a member of IIS or not.

Cattle yards made from bamboo!,bee hive in telescope, guy with long stick with fire on end-now that is different. But as odd as it all seems-he might get some insurance money to replace scope. He would have a swarm of astronomers thinking then.

As funny as these posts sound, i do feel for the scope owner, kill the bees i reckon, wow, seeing a scope lay in the grass like that is sad

Me thinks that the scope's owner got the shock of his life after he picked up the scope, only to discover the new tenents while the scope was in his arms :eyepop:

Me thinks self preservation took hold over scope preservation...

Me thinks me not so brave to gently place scope on ground with 10,000 angry bees making a bee line for me... :scared2: :scared3: :prey:
