View Full Version here: : Venus through camera and sunnies!

I'm new to this game and I havent got my telescope yet, so i had to work with my Nikon DSLR and 200mm lens. It was too bright until i held my sunglasses up the front of the lens and it went a bit orange, so i snapped and this is what i got. Spotting Venus may be a bit harder than some of the other images on here but I'm pretty happy considering what i was working with. I like the composition of the first shot.

Well, I had to sqizz this after reading the The Title, Must say Top marks for the concept, Venus easily spotted along with a bunch of solar spots, and here we are paying $$$ for filters, Lol ! !
Brilliant stuff ? ? has anyone got a 4"pair of sunnies :P

I had to stop down to F22 and 1/8000th of a second too though, to be in with a chance
You've done well Bob
10/10 for lateral thinking.

I hope you mean the solar eclipse glasses when you say sunglasses?

Nope, just regular sunnies.
Obviously, i wasnt looking directly at the sun at any point, which was harder than i thought. I just used live view on my camera and looked at the LCD display.

I don't think I'd have risked my sensor doing that.
