The May 2012 issue of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
Spectrum Magazine has an article entitled "Focusing on Everything - Light-field
cameras promise an imaging revolution (http://spectrum.ieee.org/consumer-electronics/gadgets/lightfield-photography-revolutionizes-imaging/0)" by Seattle-based freelancer, Mark Harris.

Apart from the Lytro (http://www.lytro.com/#) camera, which was discussed in this forum last year, (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=77308)
the article also touches on other light-field or "plenoptic camera (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-field_camera)" offerings
such as the German Raytrix (http://www.raytrix.de/) R-11 and those from Pelican Imaging Corp (http://www.pelicanimaging.com/), based in
Mountain View, Calif.

The article mentions that Todor Georgiev (http://www.tgeorgiev.net/), an optics researcher at Qualcomm (http://www.qualcomm.com/), who
has over 50 papers in plenoptics, is -

As Kurt Akeley (http://www.lytro.com/team/kurt_akeley#), Lytro's chief technology officer says in the article, "We can use
as many pixels as we can get our hands on".
