The artist formerly know as The Symbol

.
Prince is an extremely prolific artist, having released several hundred songs both under his own name and under pseudonyms and/or pen names, as well as writing songs which have been recorded by other artists. Estimates of the actual number of songs written by Prince (released and unreleased) range anywhere from five hundred to well over one thousand. Prince has sold over 100 million records worldwide,[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_discography#cite_note-0) including 48.9 million certified units in the United States, 4.8 million in France[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_discography#cite_note-1) and over 4 million records in the United Kingdom.

Enjoy.
He is certainly a stayer. Not many of the 80s performers that are still doing big shows.
I enjoyed the Purple rain movie when it was released.

Certainly not Charles. He's started a new career as a weatherman.

Jen,

Writing 500-1000 songs is respectable but scarcely prolific. There are stacks of songwriters who could boast that. I've got 67 Zappa albums and I don't think that is the full set. Then look at SAW, Lieber and Stoller, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein and of course that great combination, Lennon McCartney.
