Hi All
Just passing this on just maybe there are a few hams here as well that could help please don't contact me like i said just passing it on.

We need an Australian Amateur Astronomer and HAM operator in Canberra on 4-6 June 2012.

We have a science team of students from the USA to observe the last transit of Venus this century in Canberra. We want a local Australian Ham to be there to see if we can use ham radio and the speed of light to share observations with our sister team in Japan (and any other observation sites).

Interested individuals for this historic event, contact WB4APR@amsat.org

We tried this with a Star party at Wiruna a few of years ago. While it worked it was cumbersome and not very reliable.

We tried a better method two years ago "Skype" Worked great with a wifi network and we were able to see and talk to our conterparts in America with roving cameras etc on demand.
