Hi all,
Anyone know what is a good flattener for the SW ED80.
I will be wanting to use this with my DSLR for imaging.
Thanks
Hi Ken.
I am using the el cheapo from Bintel see here --->>> http://www.bintel.com.au/Astrophotography/Reducers--Correctors--Flatteners/Orion-Field--br-Flattener/679/productview.aspx
It works on my ED80 and also on my GSO RC8.
Cheers
Martin.

Thanks Martin,
Yes I had a look at that and was wondering what it was like, it's definately in the area of my budget.
I haven't come accross too many others to chose from as yet.

I used an Astro-Tech for a while with good results.

I also have an ED80 and am considering the same question. Martin, looking at the pic on Bintel I can't quite see, but how does the flattener attach to the camera? Does it thread straight into the T-mount?

I've also recently purchased the Orion one and it seems to work ok (not perfect but pretty close) with the Meade ED80.

Thanks guys,
Info much appreciated
Yep it screws directly into the "T" thread
Hi Ken,
I have had some good success with both the Hotech Flattener and the newly revised William Optics III 0.8x Flattener/Reducer.
I have attached a couple of the links which indicate the results on both my ED80 and ED120....

Hope this helps.

Why not the SW reducer corrector? I have one for an ED80 and the field is perfectly flat to the edge of my D7000......

Here's a quick and dirty test shot from last night through the Meade with the Orion flattener.
Because that was not the question, the question was about a flattener and not a combination of this.

guess you're more pedantic than I am when interpreting questions....just tried to be helpful, won't bother in future.....
cheers
Gary
Geez there we go again, the whole point is answering the question the OP asked, if he asked about a chocolate cake you're not going to give him/her advice on a strawberry cake because that misses the whole point of him asking for what he/she wants to know about the chocolate cake.
So i am very sorry for being so "pedantic" and will answer questions the same way you do from now on and confuse the hell out of the OP.
Cheers
Martin.
