No doubt someone will point me to another thread I have managed to duplicate..so apologies in advanced if this is a rehash and to the member that has already started a thread.

Has anyone else been following Felix Baumgartner's attempt to jump from 120,000ft which is scheduled for later this year. Anyway, he has recently completed a milestone...a test jump from 71,000ft.

They are obviously throwing a lot more dollars at it than the guys in the 60's!

A great book about these pursuits is "Magnificent Failure - Free Fall From the Edge Of Space" by Craig Ryan. It covers the attempt by Nick Piantanida to break the record back in the 60's. A great read, as are Craig Ryan's other books on high altitude ballooning.

Cheers,
Jason.

What an awesome jump.

That is definitely what they call the right stuff.
