Stumbled across this this morning:

http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/dslr-camera-remote/

You can use it like an intervalometer - capture pictures or movies from your DSLR using your iPad or iPhone.

The one catch - your camera needs to be connected to a computer which runs the other half of the software.

Still, not bad if you've got the laptop connected out in the field or in the backyard.

Or if you have an Android device, then you don't even need the laptop/computer and can control directly from your device using DSLR Controller:

I've been using DSLR Remote for what seems like a couple of years now Mike, and it's pretty good. Given that the laptop is set up and running PHD/Maxim anyhow it's not a chore. I run all of this on my MacBook Air with the DSLR Remote server running within OSX and the other two under Fusion4 simultaneously. I quite like it. I wish CCD Labs got off their backsides and furnished a QHY5 that ran on OSX with PHD, then I wouldn't have to run any Widows code at all.

As for the Android offering... what's the point? "No WiFi Required"? If I had to be physically tethered to the camera via USB it'd mean that I couldn't operate the scope remotely from indoors. A larger display I guess, but no real advantage for me.

I've been using DSLR remote for yonks too, it is great, I also teach stop motion to kids and I used to use it all the time for that, until iMotion HD came along.

Chris, can you use the QHY5 via IOXperts? It may be worth contacting them if not and trying to get it supported.

I was hoping something might come via AOSX, but progress seems slow.

Is there "something " around that just allows you to plug the camera into ipad or iphone??

If you want to transfer files then yes, Apple have a USB interface cable that suits many cameras or can take an SD card. It also allows you to use USB headsets/headphones and some keyboards with the iPad.
