Hi guys,
The Royal Observatory Greenwich is presenting the best images from the 2011 "Astronomy Photographer of the Year". This is a free exhibition showcasing some incredible images of the sky which is in its third year.
A few of the regular contributors to IIS were present there such as Michael Sidonio, Peter Ward, Rogelio Bernal Andreo, and the overall winner, Damian Peach..
I have posted 2 images that show their images there....congrats to all you guys above. I am not sure if I have missed any other IIS'ers, sorry if I have, and let me know!!
Ah ha, just remembered that Paul Haese was also featured too, well done Paul!

Thanks so much for posting these Greg
What took you to London?
It's a fine looking method of display as far as I can tell the images look fantastic back lit. I would love to see it with my own eyes one year, I have been lucky enough to have an image of mine appear in two of these exhibitions now, 2009 & 2011 and I have seen neither in person
My Fighting Dragons of Ara image will be enlarged to over 2m for an outdoor display at the International Science Festival in Edinburgh next year too and I will not see that in person either :sadeyes:
Thanks for posting mate

Hi mike,
Pat Pearl and I are in Europe for work, beats the muggy humidity at home.
We also visited the guys at Starlight Xpress too, great day.

Hi Greg, yeah my image is the runner up next to Damians.;)
I would have loved to go and see the display, but I have several images such as yours to show me what it looks like. As Mike pointed out though seeing it for oneself would be the goal.

Hi guys,
We met Michael only, Terry was just on his way to the US that day, so we missed him. Unfortunate timing, i've spoken Terry several times over the years so I really wanted to meet him, but Michael made up for it by talking to us for about 4 hours. Great meeting!
The office and the factory are in the same building at Foxley Green Farm.
It was certainly great to see all the finalists' images on display. You have to walk past them before going into the planetarium, which was also very enjoyable. I'm a bit of a planetarium geek, I just love settling into one whenever I get the chance when I travel.
What is it about a planetarium that invokes the same special feelings of peace and tranquillity as actually sitting under a dark starry sky?? I love 'em.

Saw this too last year when I was in London for work. They had a video playing about amateur Astrophotography, would have liked to get a copy.
