my telescope is gathering a ton of dust. Its been like 2 months since the weather has been good enough to setup my telescope. How will astronomers be affected by global weather patterns?

I had mine out last Saturday (the 3rd) until 4am Sunday. It's been so long I forgot to get the balance right. It was good enough for the motors not to complain, but not east heavy enough that it would track properly.
Yes, it's easy to miss something simple when you're out of practice. I expect things may get generally worse rather than better as we head into the wet season further though. I was reminded recently how bad this year was until about May.

Partially my fault too... dropped $2.5k on new equipment and the weather gods didn't like it. I've had 2 clear nights in 3 weeks, one of which I wasn't home to use it :(

I decline to accept responsibility for the weather as a result of buying my "new" refractor. The weather was already cactus before it went on sale, and I haven't picked it up yet.

Well the prospects for tonight are improving. The cloud prospects are still 50/50 but yesterday the prediction was for rain. So time to hit the sack for a couple of hours.

With a little luck we might get a glimpse of the beginning of the moon eclipse but I wouldn't hold my breath for totality.

Up in the northwest it cleared in time for the eclipse to be about 75% over, and by then the voltage was so low my G11 shut down. There must be something wrong with the dual battery.
I got a wide angle with the DSLR with an almost totally clouded moon and perfectly clear Orion, just like Chris said in another thread.

Haven't bought anything new in 7 months.
Yet it continues to rain and rain some more, with a little rain added just in case.
With rain topping.
Tonights eclipse was being touted as "visible from everywhere in Australia".
They mock me. :(
