12" Dob Project Started

Today I took delivery of the first "bit" of my next scope project, a 12" dob. I liked the idea of a filter slide so I acquired a combination slide and focuser unit from Astrosystems which arrived today. :D .

Now all I have to do is design and build the rest of the scope. I haven't got very far with the concept plan yet:

String truss (of course!) using combination spring/screw tension.
"Classic" UTA, as opposed to single ring.
Integral dew heating system.
Telrad and RACI optical finder.

As for the rest, :shrug:

If I ever get to buying a large truss dob, a filter slide is definitely on my wanted list of features.
