Suggestions for imaging in Northern Hemisphere

My mate and I are heading off in one week to America and we have booked a night imaging with Adam Block at the Kitt Peak observatory using an using a 32-inch telescope. I have looked up skymaps and through books but thought if anyone knows some object we can look up to image that would be helpful. thanks.

M51 the Whirpool Galaxy for sure.

M31 would make a good target.There's also NGC 7635, the Bubble Nebula in Cassiopeia, which seems to be a popular target for northern-based imagers.

for sure using stellarium you can find several DSO...you can try for M101 to see the supernova, it's a start

I only saw this for the first time this evening. Imaged by one of my FB friends. It's a stunningly beautiful nebula in Cassiopeia.

h and hi in Perseus..Owl nebula (M97)...Veil nebula in Cygnus... NGC6543.. M13... M27.. just to name a few additions to the list of objects already mentioned.

Hmm interesting prospect.
Given you only have one night, considerations would be
1. Ability to collect sufficient data in the one sitting to complete an image or two. Which might indicate brighter targets
2. A target that passes close enough to the zenith to maximize your resolution
3. A target which will frame itself within your chip to be of sufficient interest.
4. Something you will be pleased to frame upon your return.

If it were me I would consider all the above, and it may well be the target will select itself.

What's the FL , f ratio of the scope and what chip will you use to image.

Didn't even cross my mind that you probably have not seen much "way up North" ...

You should try any and all galaxies north of Dec 80deg, as I don't think you can see any of them from Australia...

Start with NGC3172 (89degN) just to say you did, then 2146 and 2300 for something unusual (Google them :))...
