I have a friend who is considering purchasing a Celestron CPC 1100 primarily for the purpose of planetary imaging.

Does anyone who has experience with a CPC 1100 have any comments regarding their suitability?

An 11" SCT in its self is quite suitable, so that's not really at question, but more the mechanical construction, quality, tracking, usability of the CPC is the question.

Thanks,
Roger.

if your friend wants to get into serious planetary imaging he is better off buying a c11 and equatorial mount. (Skywatcher Eq6,Losmandy G11, and celestron cge pro)

Roger, Graeme from SA uses a CPC 11" for plantary imaging and has gained good results. Field rotation can be problematic over longer periods though.
