Hi all,

Murphy's law gets you every time, get a clear night after a long winter of crappy skies and $h!t happens. :mad2:

Well while moving my pier with the Super Polaris EQ mount and counter weights still fixed to it, went over a small bump and the sudden stop at the bottom, less than 25mm drop shocked the mount adjustment plate and unfortunately snapped it in half.
Does anyone know if there are parts available for these old mounts? :help:
I have the tools to make a modified repair if needed but just a replacement part would save a lot of rebuilding.

So if anyone has seen parts for these advertised anywhere I'd be grateful if you could let me know.

Thanks

Nico

I would advertise on cloudy nights, you see a few more parts on there

Nico, sorry to see that problem.:( It may be worth ringing around to places like Astro optics.......

http://www.astro-optical.com.au/

Or Bintel to see if they have any in the junk pile that they would part out.
Some one on here might know if the part is also common to a later version.

The IIS wanted ads could be worth a try also, and maybe email some of the Astro clubs in case a member has a damaged unit gathering dust.

Good Luck

Michael.

Thanks guys,

I'll give those a try and while I'm hunting I'll give a repair I came up with a go, with luck it should be pretty straight forward and may even be stronger than the original.
