Found a little paper over at arXiv.org about the computational analysis of exploration of the galaxy by space probes from ET's and its implications for the Fermi Paradox.

Interesting read, but like the Fermi Paradox, or the Drake Equation, nothing more than pure speculation. Like all statistical analyses, you can make the maths say anything you wish them to. Because it's all based on assumptions which they have no real knowledge of. For all they know, ET might already be here and they wouldn't even know about it. Or, they could already be here and there's a lot of evidence for it...they just don't want to accept it because of their dogmatic and/or limited paradigm. Or, they might not be here at all.

Still, worth reading, if nothing more than an attempt at making some speculative sense of what might be happening, or not, as the case may be.

I agree with their conclusion..
"Exploring the galaxy with space probes would take a long time unless a high number of probes were used."
Many say this is a waste of time say like Drake equation and will get heated about merit but their conclusion is probably correct and at least seeks to give some overview with considered inputs.
